ZIPAIR Expands New Service between Mineta San José International Airport and Tokyo-Narita

Flights begin Dec. 12 and increase to five weekly starting Jan. 11

San José, Calif.—Before its new nonstop service between Mineta San José International Airport (SJC) and Tokyo Narita International Airport (NRT) has even begun, ZIPAIR Tokyo announced it will increase frequency on the new route to five weekly flights beginning Jan. 11, 2023. Initial service begins on Dec. 12, 2022, with three weekly flights.

“ZIPAIR’s new, low-cost service connecting the capitals of Silicon Valley and Japan has already proved to be popular among travelers on both sides of the Pacific,” said SJC Director of Aviation John Aitken. “While we knew ZIPAIR planned to grow its Bay Area gateway in San José, the timing of this expansion reflects the strength of our market and the resurging demand for transpacific travel.”

ZIPAIR Tokyo, a wholly owned subsidiary of Japan Airlines (JAL), offers passengers a fully customizable travel experience. The airline operates a modern fleet of Boeing 787 aircraft, with 18 full-flat seats and 272 standard seats. All passengers enjoy complimentary inflight Wi-Fi, as well as inflight food, beverages and shopping available for purchase through a unique, contactless mobile ordering system.

Initially, ZIPAIR will fly the San José – Tokyo route on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. From Jan. 11, it will add service on Wednesdays and Sundays. As previously announced, ZIPAIR intends to further expand its schedule to offer daily service later in 2023.

Promotional launch fares* are still available for the carrier’s new San José service. Flight schedules are subject to relevant government approvals. Flight times, fares and reservations for the new flights are now available at zipair.net.

* Inaugural airfares are subject to availability for purchase between Sept. 16, 2022, and Nov. 30, 2022, for travel between Dec. 12, 2022, and March 25, 2023, and are one way, per Standard Value Seat, inclusive of taxes and applicable airport fees. Additional fees apply for optional services, including inflight meals, checked baggage and seat selection.
