About SJC
In the heart of Silicon Valley, San José Mineta International Airport (SJC) is the most convenient, reliable and easy-to-navigate airport in the Bay Area.
A self-supporting enterprise owned and operated by the City of San José, the Airport is strategically located just 3 miles (4.8 kilometers) from downtown San José. It is accessible to major highways such as U.S. Route 101, Interstate 880 and State Route 87.
SJC currently offers nonstop service to more than 40 domestic and international destinations, serving as a gateway for nearly 12 million annual passengers and the world’s most recognized tech giants. Its growth is fueled by strong airline partnerships, including a large presence from Alaska Airlines and Southwest Airlines. Global connectivity has been strengthened with carriers such as Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, Spirit Airlines, Volaris and ZIPAIR.
Consistently winning accolades, SJC ranks in the Top 10 for on-time performance in the Medium Airport category by the aviation analytics company Cirium. Wall Street Journal named SJC the Best Midsize Airport in the U.S.
A leader in sustainability, the Airport designs and builds all-new construction to meet the U.S. Green Building LEED Silver Certification. It was also upgraded to Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) Level 2, a major step in its ambition goal of reaching carbon neutrality by 2030. ACA is the only global carbon management certification program for airports.
The Airport was named after Norman Y. Mineta, former United States Secretary of Commerce and Secretary of Transportation, who guided the creation of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). He also served as mayor of San José, San José city councilman and vice president of Lockheed Martin. Mineta was a champion of transportation and infrastructure, an advocate for technology growth and a vocal civil rights leader. To celebrate Mineta's impact on SJC and in the transportation industry, a statue was unveiled in his honor in 2024.
