Resources for Federal Workers at SJC During the February 2026 Shutdown

This information is provided to support federal workers who are key partners in helping San José Mineta International Airport (SJC) operate. These employees perform critical airport functions, and we recognize the challenges federal employees may face during a government shutdown.
The resources listed below may be available to federal staff. Inclusion does not constitute an endorsement or recommendation by the City of San José or SJC.
Banks & Credit Unions
Federal employees are encouraged to contact their financial institution directly to determine what assistance or relief programs may be available during a shutdown.
Transportation Assistance
VTA SmartPASS
The VTA SmartPASS provides free access to all standard VTA bus and light rail routes to employees who are primarily based at SJC.
- Employees who do not already have a VTA Smart Pass must complete the application form and submit it to the SJC Badging Office.

Food & Produce Distribution
Meals, fresh fruits, vegetables and pantry items from Martha's Kitchen and Loaves & Fishes are available to federal SJC employees during the federal government shutdown.
Martha’s Kitchen
- Roughly 200 meals will be provided Monday-Friday (a mix of frozen meals and sandwiches).
- An additional 300-400 meals will be delivered every Friday to support staff through the weekend.
- Airport Operations will deliver all food donations to Terminal A Checkpoint and the onsite TSA team will handle distribution.
Loaves & Fishes – Weekly & Regular Donations
- Regular donations include containers of concessionaire products (chips, beef jerky, donuts, yogurt, etc.), delivered roughly three times a week.
- Larger weekly donations will occur every Friday, including fresh fruits, vegetables and pantry items.
- Friday Food & Produce Distribution Details
- Time: 1 p.m.
- Every Friday during the government shutdown
- Airport Operations will deliver all food donations to Terminal A Checkpoint and the onsite TSA team will handle distribution.
