“Creating a Quieter Community”
The ACT Program is committed to minimizing the impact of noise on the community. Our goal is to improve the quality of life for people who live near the airport by reducing the aircraft-related noise in their homes to meet Federal and State noise standards. The ACT Program works to create a quieter, more pleasant living environment.
HOW IT WORKS
The ACT Program works with property owners to offer sound insulation at no cost. Typical acoustical treatments may include door and window replacements, weather stripping, attic insulation and air conditioning.
The ACT Program hires qualified architectural and acoustical consultants to implement the noise reduction work for the eligible properties.

The Program consists of a 10-step process beginning with an assessment visit. The entire process from applying to the Program through the end of the construction period typically is 18-24 months.
The ACT Program is considered one of the most progressive programs in the country for providing a successful reduction in noise. Currently, of the 50 largest airports in the United States, only 27 have active acoustical treatment programs. To date, nearly 2500 homes have been acoustically treated at a cost of approximately $140 million. Each property eligible for full insulation receives approximately $35,000 of acoustical treatment.
